Information is power with most of life's endeavors. Here, Dan shares some of the power with you, as he candidly offers the challenges and rewards that are part of any disc golf course design and installation project.

WHY DISC GOLF?

Makes use of beautiful areas of existing recreational areas or parkland in an environmentally-sensitive manner, while preserving open space
Provides alternate recreational activity by using wooded areas or perimeter areas of parkland unsuitable for most other recreational activity
Nominal costs to design, install, and maintain a course while providing a durable, non-intrusive recreational activity
Inexpensive to play; easy to learn; a true lifetime sport
An activity for families and individuals; young and old; able-bodied and physically-challenged
    Provides moderate, non-stressful, peaceful exercise
Can be played year-round, unlike more traditional "ball golf"
Appealing both as a recreational activity and as a competitive sport
The experience of many Parks departments has been that the frequency of vandalism in their parks where courses are located has decreased, partially because the kids hanging around those parks take up the game and become the "unofficial caretakers" of the course.
Many courses hold fund-raising events, especially in the winter months when a worldwide event called the "Ice Bowl" raises funds for local food banks or other local charities.
Businesses in communities where Disc Golf courses have been installed have seen an increase in business because of the number of players coming to play the course.
Disc Golf is one of the fastest growing recreational activities / sports in the United States.
