DAN'S DESIGN THEORY

The Art of Course Design...

Designing a Disc Golf Course is an art. The landscape is the canvas. The notion of creating a fun outdoors playspace where children and "adult-children" of all skill levels can recreate individually, as a family, or in an organized competitive event is tremendously satisfying from a "soul-feeding perspective". It is also a multiple win-win situation for players, course owners, and the surrounding community.

My Motivation is Quality and Accomplishment...

I pride myself on accomplishment. I want to make a difference, especially in a sport I am as passionate about as Disc Golf. I have a great reputation within the Disc Golf community for excellence and integrity. When I put my mind, heart, soul, and energy into a project, combined with a gift and flair for course design from years of experience, good things happen.

Creativity is the Lifeblood of the Process...

Although there are some basic rules-of-thumb and design principles that can be followed so that anyone can design a course, the best designs are a result of the creative talents of a skilled designer.

Humans are Programmed to Hit Targets...

Whether it's attempting to kick a soccer ball into a net or hitting a bullseye with an arrow or throwing beanbags at arcade bunnies, humans are naturally intrigued by "target games". Flying discs are exceptionally unique projectiles. Numerous shapes and size of discs, types of throws, and flight path options allows for incredible diversity. A good designer will incorporate this variety into a course design to maximize the fun factor while creating an appropriate challenge for all skill levels.
